Connecting an ETport / WattsOn-Mark II to WiFi
Connecting an ETport / WattsOn-Mark II to WiFi
Overview
Some WattsOn-Mark II meters include built-in Ethernet and Wi-Fi, while others require an external ETport communication module.
| Device | When Used |
|---|---|
| WattsOn-Mark II (E4 models) | Ethernet and Wi-Fi are built into the meter |
| WattsOn-Mark II (non-E4 models) | Requires an ETport module to provide Ethernet and Wi-Fi |
Regardless of which device provides the network interface, the discovery and configuration procedure is the same.
Important:
Wi-Fi will not connect while an Ethernet cable is plugged in. Ethernet must be unplugged before Wi-Fi becomes active.
Ethernet is used temporarily for configuration.
1. Hardware Installation
A. WattsOn-Mark II (E4 Models)
If your meter includes the E4 communication option:
- Install the WattsOn-Mark II according to the installation manual.
- Apply power to the meter.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the meter.
B. WattsOn-Mark II with ETport (Non-E4 Models)
If your meter does not include E4, install an ETport.
- Mount the ETport beside the WattsOn-Mark II on the DIN rail.
- Connect the JumpBUS connector between the ETport and the meter.
- Apply 9–32 VDC power to either device, power is shared through JumpBUS.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the ETport.
The ETport provides Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity for the meter.
